As a first-year teacher, the advice given by veteran teachers remains true: it’s crazy. I am used to being a busy person, so I figured this wouldn’t be much different. Wrong. I chose to begin my Master’s two days after I graduated. Taking two classes and working for a company providing online science courses was stressful and this was all prior to getting my classroom set up. The amount of information received at the beginning of the year was daunting and all the while we were still searching for my 7th grade Science counterpart. I agreed to be the Science Olympiad coach, WEB leader sponsor, assistant track coach, and wanted to start up a new Ecology Club. While my obligations are many, what I have received has been bountiful. Therefore, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, this first-year teacher has much to be thankful for:
I hope you all have a safe and splendid Thanksgiving. I am truly thankful.
